Welcome to Leonora District High School.................. Leonora has a statement of Purpose. We aim to provide an education that develops student potential, in order to meet the demands and rigour of the 21st Century. Our goal is student-focused, recognising individual needs, values and abilities. Our view is outward and global, making links to differing cultures and views in order to make our students adaptive and responsive citizens, for the world in which they live. Our educational purpose is driven by the need to have motivated, skilled and questioning students who will make our society sustainable and prosperous for future generations. As Socrates said “Wisdom begins in wonder” maintaining that wonder is our goal.

Information for parents Enrolment Cards The enrolment card must be filled in (especially medical details) by the parent or caregiver when the child is admitted to the school. In the case of Kindergarten and Pre-Primary children a birth certificate may need to be sighted. There are occasions, such as playground accidents, when we have to contact parents by phone. Please ensure that any changes to telephone numbers (including the emergency number) are reported to the school office immediately. Immunisation Records These may need to be sighted at school to indicate that children have had their immunisation against measles and their year one entry (whooping cough/ diphtheria) completed before their enrolment may be finalised. Please contact Leonora District Hospital or the School Health Nurse for information regarding immunisation clinics. Amenity Fees (Voluntary) $40.00 per primary student $135.00 per secondary student plus The amenity fee enables the school to provide a variety of materials which would otherwise not be available for student use. These items include extra art/craft materials, music in the form of cassettes and compact discs, additional equipment for the Home Economics room, extra resource material for all subjects and special sports equipment. All children benefit from the use of materials purchased through the amenities fund. It is, therefore, requested that all parents and caregivers pay the fee as soon as possible in the first term. The payment of the ammenities fee is a tax deduction Bikes Children are to wear bicycle helmets when riding bikes (by law). Bicycles are to be kept in the bike racks and are not to be touched during the day by anyone (even the owner) unless leaving the school for lunch. Children are to walk their bicycles in and out of the school grounds and are advised to use a chain or lock for security Sickness and Accident If children are sick we may need to contact the parents or caregivers and ask them to collect the child. In the case of an accident we also contact the parents or caregiver. Please ensure that your telephone number on the enrolment card is always kept up to date as this is the only number we will call. School Uniform All children are encouraged to wear the school uniform or dress code. Wearing a uniform helps to improve school unity and contributes to the overall appearance of the children as a group and improves safety for our students.
